Backing up your site
Download Monitor is a plugin that was active in a previous semester. While the name of the plugin suggests it would allow you to make a downloadable copy of your site, this is not the case, it does not copy sites. From the plugin’s page:
Download Monitor provides an interface for uploading and managing downloadable files (including support for multiple versions), inserting download links into posts and logging downloads.
There is also a similar plugin, Download Manager, but again this plugin is used for file management, not backing up / exporting a site.
NS Cloner does copy sites, known as subsites in WordPress multisite, but only to the same WordPress multisite, not for backup or download. It’s the plugin that’s used to set up all the sites for this class. NS Cloner copies https://insc589.infosci.utk.edu/sitex to https://insc589.infosci.utk.edu/sitey
Unfortunately, there is no free plugin that will make a backup or download copy of a subsite on a WordPress multisite like https://insc589.infosci.utk.edu There are several plugins, such as Duplicator, that include this as a paid feature.
Given these limitations, the best way for you to back up your site’s data is to use the WordPress export tool.
There are also ways to make local copies of websites that don’t involve the export tool or a WordPress plugin.
