JTV Subscription Center

The Problem

This was my first professional project at an internship with Jewelry Television (JTV) in the summer of 2021, and it was an individual project. My task was to design the UI and UX for an email subscriptions page for the users of JTV.com. At the time, users had no way of customizing their emails so customers got multiple emails a day from JTV. JTV wanted the user to have less clutter as well as a more personable email experience.

What I did

My first step was to do research on other companies’ email subscription pages. I looked at companies like Lands’ End, Target, and Best Buy — all places with multiple brands and kinds of items. Immediately I noticed that these pages were very simple and did not offer much. I wanted to keep the simple part, but give the user more power. Once I gathered the information I needed from my research, I began prototyping. Throughout this project, I coordinated with JTV’s email team to see what kind of emails the users could sign up for and what they could support.

For this project, I designed from a mobile-first perspective and then translated it to a desktop view. The page had three different sections: email signup, birthday selection, and jewel/brand selection. Email signup was the main focus, but I added the other sections to give users the ability to tell us about themselves and what they like so we could send them more personized emails. If a user likes tanzanite, they were notified of tanzanite sales that JTV was running. Although simple in nature, the project took most of the summer to complete and fine tune.
