Website Critique

The Problem

This was another assignment from my Web Design class. The purpose of this assignment was to critique a website on its effectiveness.

What I did

To start, I defined the user of DoorDash. DoorDash does not have a specific user because of its broad use case. Because of this, I went through the website as I normally would, a hungry college student. I noted any problems I had and continued with my walkthrough. Although I had used the DoorDash website plenty of times before, I tried going through as many scenarios as I could to help me find any issues. After defining the user, I defined the purpose of DoorDash — to give the user the option to get food delivered from restaurants that do not normally offer delivery. I then went through the content of the website and noted what I did and did not like. This included the visual design, formatting, and navigation of the website.

The Results

I found that the DoorDash website had very minimal problems. When you enter the homepage, it can feel very overwhelming with all the pictures. The only other problem I had was that the user did not have an easy way of learning what DoorDash’s subscription service, DashPass, did. It was on the menu with a label “Get Free Deliveries” instead of “Get DashPass” with the only related thing being the logo for DashPass. Since DoorDash is a huge company, I did not expect to find any big problems. Overall, it is a great and easy website to use.
