Master’s Research Project: NIL Impact on Student Relationships

This project, in which I worked alongside a fellow student named Ivy Davis, saw the two of us conduct background research, interview, and assess the relational impacts of the changes in NIL at the collegiate level. We interviewed athletes of both genders across sports like Softball, Baseball, Basketball, and Football to understand, from a relationship management standpoint, how athletes were being impacted.
This was a fun and invigorating challenge as it combined a variety of elements from communication and PR theory, sports, and team theory, and then actually in the field interviews. There is a link below where you can access it and other projects of mine.

AVTC Historical Impact Video

This was a video that I created in conjunction with EcoCAR, where I am the Communications Manager. We hoped to showcase our team’s history in the competition, the current team and the vehicle, and the amazing impact it has had on the university and department.
I compiled footage, shot, and edited the video that you can see at the link below, but there were a lot of team members that contributed time and effort. J.P. Nelms assisted with project direction, research, and final production. Landon Harris also conducted and shot an interview for the feature video. This video was later scored and judged against 11 other university videos covering the same topic. It came in 5th out of 12. There is a large belief on our team that the judges ended up scoring more on how much the team focused on impact, whereas we attempted to cover impact and history equally.

Social Media Pitch Deck – Hops and Hollers

This was a social media campaign project and audit that I conducted as a class project during my Master’s program. I evaluated the current social media setup of Hops and Hollers, a local bar in Knoxville. I concluded that they had a great opportunity for additional campaigns, retargeting, and promotions through their current setup.
The main focus of the pitch was utilizing their position as the Arsenal Bar in town for better promotions, social campaigns, and deals surrounding that. I also created a content calendar, a series of personas that matched each account, and provided examples of posts that would fit each persona and account accordingly. This project provided a great experience with creating social media campaigns, conducting background research on organizations, and the inner workings of an audit. The link below will take you to the project if you scroll down.
