About MUNA

Comprised of Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson, MUNA is an indie pop band that was formed in 2013. The three members met while attending the University of Southern California and immediately knew that they wanted to form a band together. They released their first EP in 2014, with their most recent album coming out in 2022. All three members of the band identify as queer and embrace their identity as a queer band that inspires people to be comfortable with their identities. If you can’t get enough of their music, MUNA also produces a podcast titled Gayotic. Their podcast aims to give insight into queer lives outside of the heightened attention during Pride month.

The band decided on the name MUNA after considering multiple options. They have stated that the process was similar to naming a dog, a lot of names were thrown out and everyone agreed on MUNA.
