Video Project – What is Information Science
Project Parameters: Produce a 1:30 minute or less “Elevator Pitch” to explain to family and friends what information is all about as part of learning about video projects and presentations.
What I did: This was an assignment that required the use of a screen–casting or animation software to create a video. Developing the script and voiceover for the project were also a requirement. I used PowToon to create the video. Encouraged by the instructor to be creative and unique, I decided to make the video as a funny news report like those in movies of the 50’s describing a UFO or monster attack. The project was so successful that the instructor asked to use the video as an example for other classes to use.
Outcomes and Student Learning Objectives:
- Use screen–casting or animation software to build a video including directed information
- Explain the changing nature of information, information needs, and information behavior
- Develop learning materials in ways that are engaging using video projects and other media
