MUNA (Self-Titled) is primairy a synth-pop album that is influded by disco, new wave and hyperpop. It is their first album as an independent artist, after signing with Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records imprint in 2021. The album was met with critical acclaim upon release and became the band’s first-charting album on the US Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart.

Saves the World is Muna’s second album and covers the genres pop, alternative rock, synth-rock, indie pop, synth-pop, electropop, alt-pop, and power pop. According Josette Maskin, the title represents the band’s belief that “saving yourself is the key to saving the world”. Maskin also said that Saves the World is meant to evoke optimism in listeners.

About You is MUNA’s debut album and it has a dark-pop, synth-pop and dance-pop sound that was heavily influenced by 80’s new wave music which makes it hard to stick into a singluar genre. About U placed at number 41 on Billboard‘s list of the best albums of 2017 and the 20th best of the year by The Line of Best Fit. Tim Sendra of AllMusic called the album “a promising debut” “with a pleasingly direct lyrical approach, very assured vocals, and enough songs with sharp enough hooks, emotional punches, or both to make it worth the effort to check the record out.”(1)
