Alarm Clock Prototype

Overview

The purpose of this activity is to learn more about low-fidelity prototyping by creating a simple, hand-drawn prototype and simulating it with another user.

Skills Used

Summary

For my prototype, I created an app for the Apple Watch specifically. It’s vibrations allow the users to wake up gently as opposed to an obtrusive phone alarm

Prototype 1

The user found the prototype at first simple. It was able to be set easily and rang at 9AM like it was supposed to.

Prototype 2

Setting the time back or going into edit to turn on the automatic Daylight savings was intuitive and simple. The more complicated addition of changing the sound became harder to do. The idea was to have the sound selection be robust to tailor fit the user, but it really over complicated it for the user and the solution was to lessen the options, but allow the user to scroll through selections that they could add on through their phone on the Apple Watch app itself if they wanted more choices.
