This assignment focuses on conducting a usability test. This was an individual project to conduct a formal usability test. Upon conducting the test, I analyzed the data collected during the test and wrote a report with the main problems identified in the test and will proposed design solutions to fix these problems.
Skills Used
- User Testing
- Data Analysis
- User Interface
Summary
This usability test was conducted on www.saharasistasols.com. This test will cover fillable forms, content sharing, and navigation
Purpose
The purpose of this usability test is to improve the site and its functionality. This test will allow me to rate this site and see if its intended purpose makes sense to the user.
My concern with the site is that it is hard to navigate and could be too much content for a user to have to go through. This will highlight if this is a good tool to sell my goods and services.
Test Metric
- To evaluate my test I will analyze the task completion, the critical errors, and the likes/dislikes/recommendations. Below is a chart of the errors. The first thing I calculated was how frequently the errors were made and then divided by the total frequency to come up with the average. I then compared the severity to the impact the errors had to the overall website. My findings are that Task 3 had the highest rate of completion in the least amount of time while Task 1 was completed it took the most amount of time to complete meaning that the designer would have to rethink where they put the shop. Task 2 wasn’t a severely critical task and had only a few errors to reach task completion meaning that it could stay where it is.
Test Evaluation
Participant 1: https://youtu.be/Lq5cRzSUXOA Had the most trouble with locating Task 1, he had to get bearings of the website before he was able to locate the video. I discovered that once he got his bearings on the sight he was able to recall where certain pages were to complete Tasks 2 & 3
- Participant 2: https://youtu.be/wESxXEMFeCY Mentioned at the beginning of the test that they had poor vision when navigating Zoom, however, it wasn’t mentioned again in any task. Once allowed to overview the site they had minimal difficulty completing Task 1 struggling to recognize which page it would fall under. In completing Task 2 they needed gentle assistance to complete the task. For Task 3 they completed it fairly quickly. They mentioned the site was fairly easy to navigate at a 7 on a 1 not easy-10 easy scale. They also mentioned that they would have preferred a search bar to find things. They suggested getting a graphic designer to look over
- Participant 3: https://youtu.be/MzC7wlEYcGM Had time to overview the site. They had the least difficulty navigating Tasks 1 & 3. For task 2, they had to take more time but still completed the task expediently. It was interesting that they mentioned they were computer illiterate but did so well with task completion. Mentioned that they would like links to the videos or have the videos labeled differently under different categories with headers. They also mentioned putting the book on the homepage. They said the photos stood out.
